Valentine’s Day was perfect this year. It was a warm, sunny, 65 degrees and Phil and I spent almost the whole day doing “goat” things. Cuzco looked very lordly in the late afternoon light. Cuzco, king of the Goat-O-Rama herd, surveys his domain from the hilltop.
Cuzco is the undisputed king of the Goat-O-Rama herd. Cuzco was born at a farm in western New York state in April 2002. He was our first goat and the one that inspired us to start our Goat-O-Rama herd. Cuzco is a flashy Alpine/Nubian cross who stands 38″ tall at the withers and weighs around … Continue reading Cuzco →
Cuzco was the star guest member of RCC Saddle Club last Saturday at the Colorado State Fair parade, and boy did he attract attention! He carried two panniers filled with candy and we followed the horses, weaving back and forth between crowds to hand out sweets to the kids. We got a ton of cheers, … Continue reading Cuzco and RCC Saddle Club at the State Fair Parade! →
Here’s how it all came together. We’re calling it “Cuzcotopia”.Phil and his dad, Jim, begin gathering the spools. Cuzco is thrilled that Jim got his old shed back into working condition and goes in for an inspection. Jim instructs Phil on the placement of the top spool. The preliminary inspection. Phil surveys his handiwork. Pac-Man … Continue reading The construction of “Cuzcotopia” →
Yesterday, Cuzco and Phil and I went on a mission to clean up our daily walking route. We saddled Cuzco, put a couple of 6-gallon trash cans in the panniers, and lined them with trash bags. I’m still amazed at how much this goat loves to work. Cuzco stood like a statue while I saddled … Continue reading Cuzco Cleans Up →
This Rendy event deserves its own post. Cuzco did something I never thought he would do. He went for a swim! It was not even coerced. Phil and I went in for a dip and we turned around to see Cuzco following right after us! He came in up to his chest and then stopped, … Continue reading Cuzco the amazing aqua-goat! →
Cuzco is finally old enough to start growing a beard! If you look carefully you can just see the whiskers fluttering under his jaw. At nearly eleven years old, it’s about time he started getting some facial hair! He’s probably been feeling embarrassed because Nibbles and Lilly are starting to grow beards and he’s never … Continue reading Cuzco’s whiskers and other miscellany →
When we got to Nationals, we noticed a camera crew walking around taking video and doing interviews. They were wearing “Promote the Goat” t-shirts and passing out buttons. We found out they were doing a documentary on goats, so we cornered them and started talking about our dream: big, beautiful, colorful working goats. We told … Continue reading Cuzco at Nationals →
Cuzco went missing last night sometime between 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. and I suspect the worst. I took the horses with me to saddle club and Phil was at youth group. When we got home, Cuzco was nowhere to be found. I didn’t worry about him… he often visits the neighbors’ horses if they venture … Continue reading Say a prayer for Cuzco… →
It’s Cuzco’s doormat. But sometimes he lets me sit next to it. Unless it’s the boys from the youth group, I always make sure Cuzco isn’t guarding our porch when someone comes to the door. The high schoolers come over once a week , and since Phil and I are firm believers that teenage boys deserve … Continue reading Cuzco’s deck →
